I dont know when exactly i started to love small car. Probably since i drive my mom’s Kia Picanto as my daily car, going back and forth to class everyday. I love how the low fuel consumption helps me on saving my money. Going back from KL-JB costs me about RM30 for fuel, which is about one half of the fuel tank. The only thing i hate about Picanto is its acceleration. 0-100 kmh takes about 15-17 seconds. Overtaking a car can takes a minute. However, it can reach up to 170 kmh for the top speed.

Lately, i keep eying on small but powerful cars. I believe that automotive engineering has moving forward. Even small engine (1.6L and below) can easily breaks 200kmh. Even MPVs is now equipped with small engine, i.e Nissan Grand Lavina and Proton Exora use 1.6L engines. Now i just want to share my favorite small cars. You probably argue about the price-to-size. Yes you may buy a used Mitsubishi Lancer X or Honda Civic for that price.

1. Suzuki Swift Sport (RM97XXX)

It nothing compares to normal Suzuki Swift from outside, but it costs RM20k+ more than normal Swift.It is built to participate in Junior World Rally Championship (JWRC). What i love from this small car is the handling and the engine. The handling comparable to Mini Cooper with BMW handling (some say it even better). It is proven on road and  track. To me, handling is everything. Car with good handling will bring driving pleasure to the driver especially when you taking corner. About the engine, it is a high-rev engine. It brings the car 0-100 kmh in less than 9 seconds and the top speed about 220kmh. What i hate about this car is the interior. The interior is conventional and so-so.

2. Honda Jazz 2010 (RM99XXX)

Everyone love Honda. The Honda design is sleek, the engine is powerful and the trade value is the highest in here, Malaysia. What i love about the new Jazz is the cockpit of the driver and of course, the i-VTEC engine. I love the Civic FD steering on this car, i love the air-cond control, i love the new look of the interior. But in my opinion, Honda Civic FN2 has the best looking and practicality cockpit for Honda. About the engine, VTEC need no more introduction and explanation here. The high-rev NA engine can makes your car fly (probable few milimeters from road.heh).

3. BMW E87 116i-2 doors (RM100XXX-RM140XXX)

This 1-series hatchback BMW is very rare in here. Its the same as 3-series except it is hatchback. I love the looks, the headlamp and the luxury feel when you drive a BMW. It is more to cossy driving experience and low fuel consumption. And of course, you have to pay for it.

I considered Mitsubishi Colt previously. It is so powerful car with turbocharge engine. However, the poor handling of the Colt is the biggest disadvantage for the car (according to most review). And I love how Nissan Latio Sport looking, but it is too big for daily driving plus it uses normal engine.

On boat to Perhentian Island, Terengganu

We checked-in our chalet around 10:30 am, have a rest till lunch time. Then we started our activity with a short-trip snorkeling package. It tooks about 4 hours of snorkelling from 2:30pm to 6:30pm. There are 4 points of snorkelling visited which are the beginner point, turtle point, fish point and shark point. Our boatman was Abang Mat Snorkeler and he is the best boatman and snorkeler at Perhentian Island.

On the next day, we started with breakfast on 8am then went to Pulau Redang for our second snorkeling trip. It was a join trip with another group. The boatman was Pak Din but seems like he had nothing to do with our group. So thumb down. We visited 3 points which are Pulau Redang (baby shark point), Marine Park and Pulau Lang Tengah. Overall, the snorkeling trip was a bit disappointment because the coral there mostly died.

On the last day, we departed from Perhentian Island on 10am. We planed to go back using beach roadway (through Kuala Terengganu). We bought some souvenirs and kopok lekor/sata/otak-otak on our way back home. The journey was so tiring but our car was so cheerful because all the passengers did not sleep at all (plus chatting about girls). The day ends with watching England vs. Germany world cup live match at Dzul Aqmal’s house and England beaten by Germany 4-1. Yes!

Even dont have any income, as a gadget freak i always wanted latest gadget. My first priority is an iPhone 4. Sometimes people couldnt comprehend, why buy expensive iPhone? The answer is simple, very low depreciation. Since apple update its iPhone once (or less) per year, therefore the price for iPhone remains stable.

My second wishlist gadget is the Mac Mini 2010. It will be for my home use actually. Im not a Mac user because mostly im working on Windows. But i realized that Mac Mini is enough for home use, save power and more vulnerable to virus. Its will be great experience having and working on both Mac and Windows platform.

Its been so long since my last post. This is because of the final year project. I was extremely busy on the last semester. Alhamdulillah I am able to make it as it should be. Hereafter is another turning point of my (our) life. The beginning of chapter 3. Here im going to summarize what i went through during my undergraduate study.

Part 1: Nothing much. I found that Asyraf and Fathul (my ex-schoolmates) are my classmate under same MiCE department. So do other SEW/SEC students. Know Alepsan as my roommate. And got the worse grade of all subjects in UTM which is a C+ for my Calculus subject. Built my first PC cost me about RM3,500 (thanks mom).

Part 2: A whole semester of merempat at Fazli’s room. Was addicted to Dota. Every day its like playing at least 5 games on local area network with friends. Skipped classes a lot because playing dota till late at night. Fortunately, it was Ramadhan and i still manage to score good grade in exam because of “we dota together and we study together”.

Part 3: Half of my dota friends moved to other colleges. So the addict reduced by half. But i still played it regularly. Got Helmi as my roommate. He loves to play Pro Evolution Soccer (PES). Sometimes i played PES against him. Built second PC for home. Applied Streamyx and set up wireless network in my house.

Part 4: My worst semester in term of academic performance. Scored 3.29 for part 4 due to EMT (and KB) subject. Hardest subject for electrical students (siap masuk kelas pemulihan). Bought my first laptop, Vaio SZ and still running strong till now. Played skate regularly this semester.

Part 5: Third year. Suddenly i woke up from my dream. The dream full of huhahuha (unnecessary things). Start hunting for 1st class. The roommate was Muzakkir, my junior of Smartcamp club. I was the head of facilitator in motivational camp at MRSM Muar. I learnt WordPress (thanks to Fathul) and started my first blog, xtudentz.com but the blog died already. Brought car to UTM and i become more rajin after that.

Part 6: Was the best academic performance (3.96). Thanks to most inspiring lecturer, Prof Khalil (VLSI). So do Pn. Farhana (English – Career Search), Prof Razali (Microelectronic) etc. Went to library frequently on the exam week (because of frustration actually). Finally i made it. Built home theater PC (HTPC) installed with Windows Media Center for home use.

Internship: Did my internship at ICmic Cyberjaya. Go back and forth Kepong-Cyberjaya everyday. Its about 55km and the traffic is congested everyday at KL. Toll cost me RM5/day and fuel about RM10/day. I learnt Silvaco EDA, another IC design software alternative other than Tanner EDA. Silvaco is very powerful design tools, no wonder it costs about a million. Conclusion, money is not everything (Im not going to waste my time by trapping in traffic jam). Second, made me think how mentah i am in IC design industry. Made up my mind to further study doing master to learn more about IC design.

Part 7: Final Year Project (FYP) part 1. Mr. Arif was my supervisor. I decided to become mixed signal IC designer as suggested by Mr Shahab of ICmic. Therefore i started with an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) as my project. 8-bit folding and interpolating ADC was implemented using Tanner EDA. It was very hard to understand the architecture of folding-interpolating ADC. Found Bruno Kasimin from University of Applied Science Aalen, Germany on the internet. He provided my reading materials and explained the concept of the ADC. Barely understand the concept on the end of the semester. Started my second blog, mengejarmimpi.com. Bought Asus Eee PC S101H for my brother, Naim to assist him in study. Found my love on this semester too. Hehe.

Part 8: Final Year Project (FYP) part 2. Quite a relax semester actually. Taking 12 credit only and 4/12 is for the project itself. So i got 3/7 days with class per week. Spending most of my time doing project in my room. Fortunately im able to finish my project a bit sooner than it should be. I was participated in MiCE exhibition to present my project and be complimented by Intel representatives and my CMOS analog lecturer, Prof Abu Khairi. I wrote very simple thesis for my project (33 pages of content/47 pages cover-to-cover). Spent about RM800 to repair my car this semester. Bought a used Compaq laptop and unfortunately it rosak within 3 days. Bought and keep changing iPhone 3GS.

The path is clear. Im going to further my study in IC design. I already have the supervisor and research title for my postgraduate study. Which path that you choose is all the same as long as you know where are you heading to. I wish you all the best in whatever you are doing. Hopefully we will meet together at our weddings.

Ramai orang tidak dapat membezakan antara rezeki yang halal dan rezeki yang berkat. Ia seakan sama, tapi banyak perbezaannya. Manusia kini berkejar-kejar mengumpul harta dan kekayaan dunia, sehingga lupa matlamat sebenar kita mencari rezeki.

Mungkin anda pernah melihat orang sekeliling anda, yang memperolehi pendapatan yang tidak seberapa, tapi hidup mereka bahagia dan serba mencukupi. Dan banyak juga dikalangan mereka diluar sana yang bergaji lebih dari mencukupi tetapi hidup dengan keadaan serba kekurangan dan tidak aman. Apa yang membezakan situasi ini ialah niat dan cara kita mencari rezeki.

Kita bekerja dari pukul 8-5 petang untuk memperolehi rezeki yang halal. Tapi adakah halal itu mencukupi? Semestinya tidak. Rezeki yang halal diperolehi dengan cara yang halal, dan rezeki yang berkat diperolehi dengan cara yang diberkati Allah. Apabila bekerja, kita mestilah bersungguh-sungguh melakukan kerja, ikhlas dan amanah. Apabila kita melakukan kerja sambil lewa, mencuri tulang dan tidak amanah, maka rezeki itu tidak diberkati oleh Allah.

Mungkin ada yang tertanya, apakah kesan rezeki yang berkat keatas hidup kita. Kesan rezeki yang berkat tidak dapat disukat dengan harta kekayaan. Rezeki yang berkat akan membuatkan kita berasa tenang dan rasa mencukupi. Rezeki yang berkat, iika diberikan kepada anak-anak kita, insyaAllah mereka akan jadi anak-anak yang baik dan terpelihara. Jika dibina rumah dengannya, insyaAllah rumah itu akan tenteram dan selamat. Akhir sekali, sambil kita mencari rezeki yang berkat, kita akan memperoleh ganjaran oleh Allah didunia dan diakhirat kelak.

Marilah kita saling ingat-mengingati antara satu sama lain supaya bekerja untuk memperolehi rezeki yang diberkati oleh Allah. Biar dengan bersusah payah, biar sehingga tangan merekah, biar terpaksa menanggung malu, asalkan kita memperolehi rezeki yang diberkati oleh Allah.

Im designing a 8-bit folding-interpolating ADC for my final year project (FYP). The most common architecture for folding ADC is combined with interpolator and sometime refer to folding and interpolating ADC. The first three most significant bit (MSB) is realized by 3-bit flash ADC. Meanwhile, another five bits is realized using folding and interpolating circuit. In designing an ADC, the accuracy of the ADC is the most important thing that have to be considered while maintaining the conversion speed. Therefore, designing the folding-interpolating circuit is going to be the hardest parts in this project. You might found the following problems when designing a folding ADC.

1. The folder output shifted and amplified/attenuated when try to interpolate the signal.

2. The sine signal of folder output is asymmetrical.

3. The DC level of the sine signal of folder output increase as input voltage increase.

Agak mahal tapi biasa la, kene consider ingredient dan method dia sama. Good ingredients make good food.

Butter Kaya Sandwich

Usually found at most of kopitiam out there and it will cost you about RM2.40. Superb for breakfast, not getting bored eating this one even at night. The ingredient is so simple.

1. Butter (Buttercup)
2. Kaya (Yeo’s)
3. Slices of Bread (Gardenia)

Salmon Cheese Sandwich.

I prefer Salmon Spread of Ayam Brand instead of their Tuna Spread. But it just my personal preference. You can use Tuna Spread also. Im eating the sandwich usually at night, when im too lazy to go to cafe to eat. To make it as a balance diet food, i will add multi leaf salad together. Here is the ingredient:

1. Salmon/Tuna spread (Ayam Brand)
2. Cheese (Kraft)
3. Slices of Bread (Gardenia)
4. Multi leaf salad (Added after toasting all the ingredients above)

Last 2 days i bought a pack of Yakult. I finished all of them in 24hours. On next day, i really feel that the Yakult cleanse my stomach. I have stomach ache until now. Is it the effect of overdosing Yakult? I feel like there are Lactobacillus Shirota fighting mere worms and trojans inside my colon. They bash, backstab and blink attack one another, make me feel even worse.
